Beef “Salpicon” (Shredded Beef Salad)


  • 1lb flank steak or any shreddable beef cut.
  • 2 bay leaves
  • ½ white onion
  • 1 head of green leaf lettuce
  • 2 tomatoes
  • ½ red onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. white vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil.
  • 1 lime
  • 1 pinch oregano.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 lb. Añejo cheese (or Panela if following BC1 food-guide)


Step 1

Cook meat in a pot with water, salt, bay leaves and white onion.
Once cooked, shred and set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix oil, vinegar, lime, salt, pepper and oregano.

Step 3

In a large bowl, mix meat, lettuce, red onion, tomatoes, and cheese.

Step 4

Pour the vinaigrette and mix everything together. Enjoy!
